Women Traveling Solo on the Rise | woman at work

More Indian women are choosing to travel alone says research

A research conducted by MakeMyTrip online travel portal found that many women are increasingly looking to travel solo or with an all-girls group. The online survey of women travellers found that  “a majority (42%) of women said they would travel in women-only groups for a sense of freedom and independence. The second most popular reason, at 27%, was to have more fun on their own.” Most women wanting to travel fit into two age groups, one between 26 and 30 years of age and the other comprised those over 40.

Having collected responses from 300 women from across the country, the survey found that one-third of them had gone on all-women trips while 13% had travelled solo. However, solo traveling for women continues to be a concern due to security.

Ranjeet Oak from MakeMyTrip said, “It suggests that women are now pushing the boundaries of family constraints, budget and time and are more than willing to explore new destinations.”
